LTO-6 urges Undas travelers to check health, vehicles
By Jennifer P. Rendon

ILOILO CITY — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region 6 reminded motorists to check their physical condition and ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before traveling during the Undas holidays.
LTO-6 Regional Director Gaudioso Geduspan II said drivers’ physical fitness is as important as the condition of their vehicles in preventing road crashes.
He advised motorists to inspect their brakes, water and coolant levels, tire pressure and engine oil before every trip.
Passengers, meanwhile, should ensure that the vehicles they board are authorized to transport passengers for hire.
The reminder came as LTO-6 implemented “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Undas 2026,” which began Oct. 23 and will run until Nov. 4 to ensure road safety during the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day on Nov. 1 and 2, respectively.
LTO-6 held a send-off ceremony Oct. 23 for 94 personnel assigned to major transport hubs, including the New Ceres Mohon Terminal in Villa Arevalo, Tagbak Bus Terminal in Jaro and Pavia People’s Terminal.
The deployment also covers various seaports and Iloilo International Airport.
On the first day of the operation, hundreds of public utility vehicles (PUVs) underwent safety inspections at major transport terminals serving Iloilo City.
With the initiative’s first phase focused on outbound travel, LTO-6 law enforcement teams inspected PUVs at the New Ceres Mohon Terminal, Tagbak Bus Terminal and Pavia People’s Terminal.
The wider deployment also covers Ungka Terminal, seaports and the airport serving Iloilo City.
At the national level, the operation is being implemented in two phases: Oct. 23 to 27 and Oct. 28 to Nov. 4, covering the expected increase in travel before and after Undas.
Geduspan stressed that road safety also requires discipline among personnel enforcing traffic regulations.
He added that professionalism and courtesy must guide every inspection, terminal assignment and encounter with motorists.
The deployment followed preparations led by Geduspan and Assistant Regional Director Jeck Conlu, together with Regional Law Enforcement Section Chief Jetster T. Mandadero, deputized personnel and division chiefs.
