The Land Transportation Office Region 6 (LTO-6) has suspended the driver’s license of a motorist caught on video punching a jeepney driver in a road rage incident in Jaro, Iloilo City, on Oct. 24, 2025.
LTO-6 Regional Director Atty. Gaudioso P. Geduspan II issued a show cause order and a 30-day preventive suspension against the 60-year-old former seafarer filmed assaulting the jeepney driver after a traffic altercation.
The order was personally served by Intelligence and Investigation Unit Chief Shiela Mae Alulod at the respondent’s residence in Jaro.
The driver’s privileges were immediately suspended for 30 calendar days in the interest of public safety.
His physical driver’s license was also confiscated by LTO-6 personnel, pending the results of a full investigation.
The respondent must submit a written explanation within five non-extendible calendar days stating why his license should not be permanently revoked.
The order referenced the widely circulated video showing the SUV driver punching the jeepney driver in public view.
This action follows the zero-tolerance directive from LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao, who warned that motorists involved in road rage may face lifetime cancellation or disqualification of their licenses.
LTO-6, led by Director Geduspan and Assistant Regional Director Jeck D. Conlu, emphasized its firm stance against road violence.
“The LTO will not tolerate any form of violence or negligence on the road,” Asec. Lacanilao reiterated.
He added that aggressive behavior behind the wheel could now cost drivers their privileges permanently.
