LTO-6 suspends dump truck driver’s license for 90 days
By Gerome Dalipe

ILOILO CITY — The Land Transportation Office Region 6 (LTO-6) has ordered the 90-day preventive suspension of a dump truck driver’s license after he allegedly evaded enforcement personnel and attempted to hit them during a roadside operation in Iloilo.
LTO-6 Regional Director Gaudioso P. Geduspan II issued the suspension order as a precautionary measure to protect public safety while the agency’s Intelligence and Investigation Unit investigates the incident.
The driver was directed to surrender his physical driver’s license immediately upon receiving the order.
The incident occurred Oct. 10, 2026, during a monitoring, inspection and checkpoint operation conducted by the Provincial Anti-Overloading Task Force and Bantay Dalan in New Lucena and Zarraga, Iloilo.
A video showing the ensuing chase circulated widely on social media.
According to the police report, enforcement personnel signaled the dump truck to stop over suspected violations of provincial regulations against illegal quarrying.
However, the driver allegedly ignored their signals and continued driving, overtaking vehicles and swerving along the road while being pursued by enforcement personnel.
He also allegedly attempted to hit the pursuing personnel with the truck.
Upon reaching Barangay Dawis Sur in Zarraga, the driver reportedly attempted a U-turn before parking the vehicle along the roadside.
He then allegedly exited through the truck’s right-side door and left the vehicle unattended.
In a separate show-cause order, Geduspan directed the driver to submit a written explanation within five working days of receiving the notice, stating why administrative sanctions should not be imposed against him.
The order cited a possible violation of Section 48 of Republic Act No. 4136, or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code, which prohibits reckless driving.
Under the law, reckless driving involves operating a motor vehicle without reasonable caution or in a manner that endangers people or property.
LTO-6 said the driver’s reported maneuvers may constitute reckless driving because they allegedly endangered enforcement personnel and other road users.
The preventive suspension is an interim administrative measure while the investigation proceeds and does not, by itself, establish the driver’s liability.
