The Land Transportation Office Region 6 (LTO-6) has ordered the Western Visayas Transport Cooperative (WVTC) to identify the two jeepney drivers involved in a viral brawl at the Mohon Terminal.
Viral footage circulating on social media shows the drivers — both operating Villa–Mohon route jeepneys — exchanging punches in front of the terminal on July 15.
One of the jeepneys is reportedly registered under the WVTC.
Shiela Mae C. Alulod, head of the LTO-6 Intelligence and Investigation Unit, personally served a show cause order to WVTC President Raymundo “Boyet” Parcon.
WVTC is required to submit the full names, employment status, driver’s license details, and any disciplinary records of both drivers.
The cooperative must also explain in writing why disciplinary or administrative action should not be imposed on the operator and any other personnel involved in the incident.
WVTC has five calendar days from receipt of the notice to file its response with the LTO-6 Intelligence and Investigation Unit.
Failure to comply will be considered a waiver of the cooperative’s right to be heard, allowing LTO-6 to proceed with sanctions based on available evidence.
LTO-6 Regional Director Atty. Gaudioso P. Geduspan II approved the order and stressed the importance of discipline among public transport operators.
“Public transport operators must maintain professionalism at all times to ensure commuter safety and confidence,” Geduspan said.
Assistant Regional Director Jeck D. Conlu added, “Disruptive behavior by drivers not only erodes public trust but also undermines road discipline.”
“We will hold those responsible fully accountable under the Land Transportation and Traffic Code,” he said.
