Land Transportation Office–Region 6 (LTO-6) law enforcers intercepted two colorum vans in Antique during early morning operations this week, marking back-to-back enforcement actions against unlicensed public transport.
Personnel from the LTO-6 Regional Law Enforcement Section (RLES) and the Intelligence and Investigation Unit (IIU), led by RLES Chief Jeru Germain D. Guzman and IIU Chief Shiela Mae Alulod, flagged down the vans during patrols in Patnongon.
A routine document check revealed that both vehicles were operating without a valid franchise to transport passengers.
One of the drivers claimed that their operators had been promised provisional authority by concerned agencies—a claim LTO-6 rejected.
“Their operations remain illegal without a valid franchise,” IIU Chief Alulod said.
The Antique enforcement came shortly after a separate operation on Monday, when LTO-6 officers stopped a taxi along Narciso Monfort Boulevard in Dumangas for operating without the necessary permits.
LTO-6 Regional Director Atty. Gaudioso P. Geduspan II and Assistant Regional Director Jeck D. Conlu praised the enforcement teams for acting on public tips and routine patrols to remove unlicensed and potentially unsafe vehicles from Western Visayas roads.
Director Geduspan urged the public to use only accredited public transportation and to report suspicious vehicles as more checkpoints and ride-verification operations continue across the region.
