The Land Transportation Office Region VI (LTO-6) has condemned a dangerous stunt caught on video early Thursday morning, where two men were seen dancing atop a moving tricycle along Sen. Benigno Aquino Sr. Avenue in Mandurriao district, Iloilo City.
In a statement, Regional Director Atty. Gaudioso P. Geduspan II said he instructed Shiela Mae C. Alulod, chief of the LTO-6 Intelligence and Investigation Unit, to issue a show cause order to the registered owner of the yellow tricycle (route code MRT-3) for allowing such reckless behavior.
A video circulating on social media shows one man—wearing only briefs—dancing on the tricycle’s roof while another man, wearing a Dinagyang Festival headdress, clings to its side.
Three other passengers remain seated as the vehicle moves along the busy highway.
“This behavior is not only irresponsible but endangers everyone on the road,” Geduspan said.
“We will pursue all legal and administrative actions to hold both the owner and driver accountable.”
Assistant Regional Director Jeck D. Conlu also condemned the act, calling it “a blatant disregard for traffic laws and public safety.”
He said Republic Act No. 4136, or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code, prohibits passengers from riding outside designated seating compartments.
Pending the outcome of the investigation, the registered owner may face fines, suspension, or revocation of the tricycle’s registration.
The driver may also face administrative penalties for allowing the violation.
LTO-6 urged the public to help identify the tricycle’s owner and report similar incidents via the agency’s official social media channels.
The agency stressed that maintaining road safety requires vigilant cooperation between authorities and the public.
