ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The Liberal Party (LP) will accept Capiz second district Rep. Fredenil “Oto” Castro with wide open arms should he join the party.
Capiz district Rep. Emmanuel “Tawe” Billones Sr. said Castro would be an asset to LP should he join them after resigning as president of the National Unity Party (NUP).
“Its lucky for a political party once Castro will join because of his intelligence and stand,” Billones stressed.
Castro tendered his resignation as NUP president because of “delicadeza” after he did not support Taguig-Pateros Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano as House Speaker.
He supported Leyte Representative Martin Romualdez.
“I feel that I could no longer be effective as president of the party and as member of the party if I remain there because I took the opposite direction during the speakership [race],” he said.
Castro explained that while NUP endorsed Cayetano for the lower chamber’s top post, he felt that he “was morally obliged to myself and to the party to resign as member and as president of the party” as his “position was opposite to that of the party.”
