ROXAS CITY, Capiz— A member of the Philippines Army and his girlfriend from Tapaz, Capiz tied the knot Tuesday morning at the border checkpoint of Tapaz and Calinog, Iloilo amid the coronavirus disease 2019.
Tapaz Mayor Roberto Nonong Palomar officiated the civil wedding of Army soldier Brian Garino of Jamindan, Capiz and Elyn Fuyonan of Barangay Camburanan, Tapaz.
The marriage was formalized at the border because Fuyonan was not allowed to enter Capiz because she came from Dingle, Iloilo.
Only a few individuals, mostly relatives of the couple, witnessed the civil wedding in order to observe social distancing.
