Carmelo Anthony is joining the Los Angeles Lakers.
Yes, you heard it right. One of the most prolific scorers in the history of the NBA will be teaming up with LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook in what may be one of the most stacked teams entering the next season.
Anthony confirmed the news on Twitter when he posted a video where the letter “L” in Melo turned into the Lakers logo.
His manager Bay Frazier added that Anthony will be signing a one-year deal with the purple and gold.
In his tenure with the Portland Trailblazers, Anthony showed he can still produce his usual numbers and score when his team needed him the most.
Anthony was a valuable piece to Portland’s two-year playoffs run and was Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum’s third offensive threat.
The third pick during the legendary 2003 NBA draft averaged 13.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.5 assists with Portland.
Aside from Anthony, the Lakers reportedly landed several big names in Trevor Ariza, Dwight Howard, Wayne Ellington, Kent Bazemore, and Kendrick Nunn.
