Live-in couple arrested in drug sting

A live-in couple was arrested for allegedly conspiring in illegal drug activities.
Alias Joebert, 44, of Barangay Baldoza, La Paz, Iloilo City, and alias Marites, of Barangay Fajardo, Jaro, were caught at their temporary residence in Zone 4, Barangay Calumpang, Molo, Iloilo City.
Members of the Iloilo City Police Station 4, along with the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) 6, apprehended the suspects after they sold a sachet of suspected shabu for PHP8,000.
Following their arrest, police confiscated nine more sachets of suspected shabu and several non-drug items.
Captain Ryan Christ Inot, ICPS4 chief, said the seized drugs weighed around 30 grams and had an estimated street value of PHP204,000.
Authorities are still investigating the suspects’ source of illegal drugs.
The couple is currently detained and will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
