A lightning strike claimed the life of a teenage boy from Nabas, Aklan morning of May 31.
Police identified the victim as John Rey Almoquera, 17, a resident of Barangay Libertad, Nabas.
According to reports, the victim went fishing with seven other men, some of whom are his cousins, at the sea waters of Libertad village.
His companions managed to run away to the shoreline just as the lightning strikes started.
Almoquera was left in the boat and eventually got hit by lightning.
According to his mother, the victim was trying to pull the fishing net out of the water when the bolt struck.
Smoke emanated from the part of his body that got hit.
His companions believed that he died instantly.
But they still rushed him to Malay Municipal Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
