Lightning kills mother, injures daughter

A lightning strike claimed the life of a 43-year-old mother afternoon of Aug 20, 2022 at Anilao, Iloilo.
The fatality, Angelie Complisa, was with her two children, 13-year-old Angelica Joy and 17-year-old Chris John, at their home at Sitio Caban-caban, Barangay Cag-an, Anilao when the incident happened.
Angelica Joy was injured while Chris John was physically unharmed.
At the height of the downpour, Angelie tried to cover their television.
Seconds later, lightning struck the outdoor antenna that was connected to their TV unit.
She eventually got electrocuted and so was her daughter.
Lieutenant Jersey Besas, Anilao police chief, said that responders were called in to bring the victims to the hospital. The team had to cross an overflow before they were able to transport Angelie and Angelica.
Angelie was declared dead on arrival.
