Lightning kills farmer, injures 2 in Jamindan

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — An 18-year-old farmer died while two others were injured when lightning struck Sunday afternoon, June 14, in Barangay San Vicente, Jamindan, Capiz.
Police identified the fatality as Ryan, 18, of Barangay Sia, Tapaz, Capiz.
The injured were identified as alias Jeff, 56, a vendor from Sitio Nabaka, Barangay San Vicente, Jamindan, and alias Jo, 24, of Barangay Nayawan, Tapaz.
An investigation by the Jamindan Municipal Police Station showed that Jeff was lying in a hut during a heavy downpour when Ryan and Jo arrived to take shelter.
Lightning then struck the hut, hitting the three victims.
The victims sustained bruises and burns on different parts of their bodies.
Residents brought them to Mambusao District Hospital in Mambusao town, but Ryan died around 3:14 p.m.
The two other victims remained confined at the same hospital for observation and treatment.
