LGUs told to report COVID recoveries on daily basis

BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental governor Eugenio Jose Lacson required all government units to report coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) recoveries daily to synchronize their data with the Provincial Health Office (PHO).

Earlier, Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante corrected the data released by the PHO indicating that the city has 150 active cases

Escalante said the city only has 99 active cases.

Lacson said all LGUs should report COVID recoveries on a daily basis so that the PHO can update the active cases in each town and city.

“If there is a discrepancy in the figure, we, in the province, are ready to correct it,” the governor said.

Lacson also announced that four towns in Negros Occidental have been declared COVID-free by the PHO on Monday – Don Salvador Benedicto, Pulupandan, Calatrava, and Moises Padilla.

Talisay City remains on top of the list of cities and towns with the most number of confirmed COVID cases with 604, followed by Silay City (575), and Cadiz City (355).

As of Wednesday, the Talisay City Public Information Office reported it only has 16 active cases, 563 total recoveries, and 21 deaths.

18 of the 27 barangays in the city are COVID- free, the Talisay City Public Information Office said.

Of the 5,055 confirmed COVID cases in Negros Occidental as of Nov. 8, a total of 4,139 already recovered.

The province has 773 active cases and 143 deaths.
