Leon OTOP Hub boosts market access for local MSMEs
LEON, Iloilo — The Department of Trade and Industry’s Iloilo Provincial Office and the Leon municipal government launched a One Town, One Product Hub at the Leon Pasalubong Center in Poblacion on Aug. 14, 2026, giving local micro, small, and medium enterprises a dedicated venue to market their products.
The hub is designed to help Leon-based MSMEs, entrepreneurs, and artisans reach more consumers while showcasing the municipality’s locally made products, craftsmanship, and culture.
For small producers, wider market access can help increase sales, strengthen livelihoods, and create more economic opportunities within the community.
DTI Iloilo officer-in-charge Provincial Director Ma. Dorita D. Chavez and Leon Mayor Ma. Lina C. Holipas signed a memorandum of agreement during the launch.
The agreement formalized the commitment of DTI Iloilo and the Leon municipal government to sustain the OTOP Hub and strengthen support for local MSMEs.
Rep. Kathryn Joyce Gorriceta of Iloilo’s 2nd Congressional District attended the launch together with former Rep. Michael Gorriceta.
Also present were members of the Sangguniang Bayan, municipal department heads, DTI Iloilo personnel, representatives of partner agencies, MSMEs, and other stakeholders.
The Leon OTOP Hub forms part of the national One Town, One Product program, which supports the development and promotion of products and services identified with particular communities.
The program was institutionalized under Republic Act No. 11960, or the OTOP Philippines Act, which was signed into law in 2023.
The law seeks to help MSMEs improve product quality, design, packaging, regulatory compliance, production capacity, branding, and marketability.
It also encourages the establishment of OTOP hubs and other marketing channels where locally produced goods can gain greater visibility and access to consumers.
The Leon hub strengthens the continuing partnership between DTI Iloilo and the municipal government in promoting local enterprises and expanding market opportunities.
The initiative also aims to help entrepreneurs build more sustainable businesses while supporting employment, household income, and local economic activity in Leon.
