Lending manager shot dead in Dueñas, Iloilo
By Jennifer P. Rendon
ILOILO CITY – A lending firm manager was killed after motorcycle-riding gunmen repeatedly shot him on the morning of Nov. 4, 2026, in Dueñas, Iloilo.
The victim, identified only as alias Roy, 36, a resident of Barangay Man-it, Passi City, Iloilo, sustained three gunshot wounds to his back and neck.
Reports indicated that the victim, manager of Passi City-based Firmus Credit Lending Corporation, was driving his motorcycle on his way to Dingle town when two suspects riding another motorcycle shot him in Barangay Ponong Grande at around 8:10 a.m.
Police Capt. Isagani Tabares, Dueñas police chief, said several people witnessed the gun attack.
Shortly before he was shot, Roy slowed down because of a vehicular incident in the area.
Moments later, successive gunshots were heard.
The two suspects immediately sped off on their black Kawasaki Bajaj motorcycle without checking on the victim.
Tabares said the gunmen also did not attempt to take the victim’s backpack, which contained PHP 300,000 in cash.
The money was intended for loan distribution in Dingle.
Roy was rushed to Don Valerio Palmares Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Passi City but died at around 9:51 a.m.
Police recovered seven spent cartridge cases and four bullet slugs from a .45-caliber pistol at the crime scene.
Tabares believes the assailants had followed the victim until they had a clear shot.
Investigators are looking into work-related or personal grudges as possible motives for the killing.
“We couldn’t say that it’s robbery because the suspects didn’t bother to get his backpack,” Tabares added.
The untouched cash has led investigators to consider motives other than robbery, although they have yet to establish what prompted the attack.
As of press time, police had yet to identify any persons of interest in the killing.
