A couple from Leganes, Iloilo, was arrested in a police anti-narcotics operation on the evening of Oct. 30.
Alias Germon, 41, and his wife, alias Faith, 34, were apprehended at their residence in Sitio Irigasyon, Barangay Guinobatan, Leganes.
Germon allegedly conspired with his wife in selling a sachet of suspected shabu for PHP 12,000 to a police poseur buyer.
Members of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) 6, along with the Regional Intelligence Division (RID) 6, the PNP Drug Enforcement Group–Special Operations Unit (PDEG–SOU) 6, and the Leganes Municipal Police Station, carried out the arrest.
Authorities also recovered three knot-tied plastic bags and five sachets of suspected shabu, PHP 1,090 in cash, three mobile phones, a lunch box, and other non-drug-related items.
Maj. Marvin Villanueva, RPDEU-6 deputy chief, said the seized drugs weighed around 330 grams with a standard drug price of PHP 2,244,000.
Both suspects reportedly have no previous drug-related arrests.
Villanueva did not disclose where the couple sourced the illegal drugs due to an ongoing investigation.
The suspects are currently detained and will face charges for violating Sections 5, 11, and 26 of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
