Some things are meant to stay buried, and that warning takes center stage in Lee Cronin’s The Mummy, a new horror reimagining set to open exclusively in cinemas on April 15, 2026.
Directed by Lee Cronin, the filmmaker behind Evil Dead Rise, the film revisits one of horror’s most iconic stories through what the studio describes as an audacious and twisted retelling.
The film stars Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, May Calamawy, and Natalie Grace, with Veronica Falcón.
According to the official synopsis, “The young daughter of a journalist disappears into the desert without a trace – eight years later, the broken family is shocked when she is returned to them, as what should be a joyful reunion turns into a living nightmare.”
The project follows Cronin’s record-setting success with Evil Dead Rise, which revived the long-running franchise and reinforced his reputation for blending visceral horror with emotional storytelling.
The film is produced by James Wan, Jason Blum, and John Keville, with executive producers Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Macdara Kelleher, and Cronin.
Behind the camera, Cronin is joined by a veteran creative team that includes cinematographer Dave Garbett, production designer Nick Bassett, editor Bryan Shaw, costume designer Joanna Eatwell and composer Stephen McKeon.
Casting for the film was handled by Terri Taylor and Sarah Domeier Lindo, completing what the studio describes as a team of “sterling film artisans.”
The film is presented by New Line Cinema, Atomic Monster , and Blumhouse, in association with Wicked/Good Production.
Worldwide distribution will be handled by Warner Bros. Pictures, with the movie set for theatrical and IMAX releases in North America on April 17, 2026, and internationally beginning April 15, 2026.
A teaser trailer for Lee Cronin’s The Mummy is now available online, offering audiences their first glimpse of the film’s ominous tone and mystery-driven horror.
