BACOLOD City – Rep. Genaro “Lim-ao” Alvarez (6th district, Negros Occ.) urged Governor Eugenio Lacson to help the towns and cities of southern Negros.
Alvarez said towns, particularly in the 6th district, were “neglected” by the previous administration.
The 6th district, also known as the CHICKS area, is composed of the towns of Candoni, Hinobaan, Ilog, Cauayan, Kabankalan City and Sipalay City.
“I have asked the 6th district mayors to talk to the governor to help them,” Alvarez said.
He also said that practically all national roads in the area have been concreted and improved through the efforts of his daughter Mercedes whom he succeeded after completing her three terms as congressional representative.
“I feel that the 6th district has been neglected,” Alvarez said.
He said as far as he knows, the provincial government has no significant project in the 6th district.
He further said that since Lacson is a stalwart of the Love Negros Team “he could at least help the mayors in the 6th district who are his party-mates.”
Alvarez said that only the airport being established in Kabankalan City received assistance from the previous administration.
