Last suspect in Capiz police officer’s killing arrested

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Police arrested Tuesday evening, Oct. 6, the last suspect wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of Capt. Rian Ampoyos in Pontevedra, Capiz.
Police identified the suspect as Andy Evaristo Garcia, alias “Bro,” 24, a resident of Sitio Stockfarm, Barangay Bungsuan, Dumarao, Capiz.
Garcia was arrested in Sitio Tagulab, Barangay Poblacion Ilawod, Dumarao, during a joint operation by the 2nd Capiz Provincial Mobile Force Company, Provincial Intelligence Team-Capiz, Regional Intelligence Unit 6, Provincial Intelligence Unit-Capiz, 1st Capiz Provincial Mobile Force Company, and the Pontevedra and Dumarao municipal police stations.
Garcia was one of two suspects who allegedly fled after Ampoyos was shot inside a KTV bar in Barangay Binuntucan, Pontevedra, on July 20.
Police said Garcia admitted that he was one of two companions of William Deocampo who escaped after the shooting.
Deocampo was cornered and allegedly mauled before being arrested by patrons and the owner of the KTV bar following the shooting.
The other suspect, Leonel Decampo, was arrested Sept. 30 during the service of a search warrant at the house of Juvy Bagares in Barangay Poblacion Ilawod, Pontevedra.
Garcia and the two Deocampo suspects face a murder charge involving the use of an unlicensed firearm under Article 248 in relation to Article 8 of the Revised Penal Code and Section 29 of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
The warrant of arrest was issued Aug. 12, 2026, by Regional Trial Court Branch 15 Judge Sesinio Navales Belen Jr. in Roxas City.
Police said Garcia’s arrest resulted from continuous monitoring by authorities following the incident.
The suspect is under the custody of the Dumarao Municipal Police Station pending proper disposition and court referral.
Street-level drug suspect nabbed in Roxas City

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A 40-year-old man classified by police as a street-level individual was arrested Tuesday evening, Oct. 6, during a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay VII, Roxas City.
Police identified the suspect as alias “John,” a resident of the barangay.
Authorities recovered four sachets of suspected shabu weighing about 4 grams with a standard drug price of PHP 27,200.
Police also recovered PHP 2,000 in buy-bust money and several non-drug items.
The suspect is under the custody of the Roxas City police while charges for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared.
