Lascuña adds another title to growing trophy haul

PASAY CITY — Tony Lascuña’s hunger for success remains undiminished.
The five-time Philippine Golf Tour Order of Merit winner added another title to his trophy collection Tuesday after surviving a tense finish to rule the 50-59 age division of the Pasay Mayor Emi Cup at Villamor Golf Club.
Lascuña, 55, tallied 38 points under the Stableford scoring system to edge Genaro Basijan on a countback and capture the pro division crown.
The victory underscored Lascuña’s enduring form and competitive drive ahead of the next Philippine Golf Tour leg in Cagayan de Oro City next week.
Aging Gabo finished third with 36 points after winning a tiebreak over Ronald Pactolerin.
Former professional tour campaigner Armando Eso topped the Seniors Pro 60-69 division with 38 points.
Eso defeated Ed Salupeza by two points.
Domeng Umadhay, another former PGT mainstay, placed third with 32 points.
Tony Arevalo ruled the 70-and-over Senior Pro division with 33 points.
Dave Hernandez finished second with 32 points.
Other winners in the 18-hole tournament were Ben Que in Class A, John Garzon in Class B, Roland Cruz in Class C and Ding del Rosario in Ladies Class A.
The tournament was organized by the Pilipinas Senior Pro Golf Tour Organization, headed by president Mars Pucay, a former national champion and multi-titled professional.
Arnel Enema and Allan Navasero also emerged as the pro-am champions with 75 points.
