LANDBANK, CSCI partner for affordable credit and support services to sugarcane farmers

More sugarcane farmers in Western Visayas are set to gain easier access to affordable credit and support services, as LANDBANK partners with Capiz Sugar Central, Inc. (CSCI) under the Bank’s Agrisenso Plus Lending Program.
LANDBANK President and CEO Lynette V. Ortiz and CSCI President Terence S. Uygongco signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on 09 July 2026 at the LANDBANK Makati Business Center Branch, witnessed by LANDBANK Executive Vice President Charlotte I. Conde and CSCI General Counsel Atty. Venir T. Cuyco.
Through the partnership, CSCI will serve as an Anchor Firm by linking its extensive network of sugarcane planters in Western Visayas to LANDBANK financing. Founded in 1924 and now part of the La Filipina Uy Gongco Group of Companies, CSCI will leverage its industry expertise to promote the program, endorse qualified borrowers, assist with documentary requirements, and support repayment through production-linked arrangements.

By integrating financing with production and market systems, the partnership helps farmers invest in inputs, improve yields, and better manage risks, ultimately boosting the competitiveness of the regional sugar industry.
“At LANDBANK, we recognize that the industry’s growth relies on boosting farm productivity and empowering those at the grassroots. Through CSCI’s deep roots and established network in Western Visayas, this strategic alliance enables us to seamlessly deliver vital credit and technical support directly to the sugarcane planters who need it most,” said LANDBANK President and CEO Ortiz.
Echoing this focus on field-level productivity, CSCI President Engr. Terence S. Uygongco highlighted how the collaboration directly benefits local growers.
“At CSCI, we believe that the success of our mill begins with the success of our planters. Through the Agrisenso Plus Program, our farmers will have greater opportunities to invest in better farm inputs, improve productivity, and strengthen their livelihoods. We sincerely thank LANDBANK for its trust and partnership, and the programs that advance the Philippine sugar industry,” said CSCI President Uygongco.
The Agrisenso Plus program provides affordable credit, capacity-building support, free insurance, and market linkages to farmers, fishers, agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs), cooperatives, and rural enterprises. As of May 2026, LANDBANK has released more than ₱4.2 billion in loans under the program, benefiting over 15,300 borrowers nationwide.
The initiative supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to boost agricultural production and expand financing access for farmers and micro, small and medium enterprises under the National Government’s Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport (UPLIFT) framework.
