A lady village head was arrested in an anti-narcotics operation Sunday afternoon in Dueñas, Iloilo.
Barangay Captain Ann Marsha Poja, 46, was arrested at a makeshift dwelling several meters away from her house at Barangay Capuling, Dueñas.
She allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu to an undercover agent around 1:05 p.m. of Sunday.
Members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Iloilo and Antique provincial officials, together with police operatives from Dueñas and Anilao, started monitoring the suspect after consistent reports linking her to illegal drugs.
Captain Jose Rey Pabalan, Dueñas police chief, said he has been receiving reports of Poja’s illegal drugs activities the moment he assumed his current post more than two months ago.
It was gathered that it was the PDEA who placed the suspect under surveillance for another a month.
Being a village chief, Poja is deemed a high value individual (HVI) drug personality.
However, she was not subjected to Oplan Tokhang.
Seized from her possession were four sachets of suspected shabu.
Poja is now detained and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
