A bank employee sustained a non-life-threatening injury after she was stabbed while riding a motorcycle on the evening of Oct. 15 at City Proper, Iloilo City.
Alias Joy, 26, of Barangay Gustilo, La Paz, Iloilo City, suffered a stab wound to her left thigh.
According to police reports, the victim had just left her workplace on Gen. Luna Street, City Proper, when the incident happened.
She was picked up by a male friend on a motorcycle at around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday. The two were about to make a U-turn at a slot near the pedestrian zone of the Infante flyover.
Captain Michael Tuburan, chief of Iloilo City Police Station 7, said the assailant was already standing in the area and appeared to be waiting for the victim.
As the motorcycle slowed down, the suspect took the opportunity to attack the woman. He fled on another motorcycle parked a short distance away and sped off toward Ybiernas Street.
The rider immediately brought the victim to the nearby Iloilo Doctors’ Hospital.
Tuburan said there were many commuters and passersby in the area at the time of the attack.
However, no one has identified the suspect, who was wearing a black shirt, black face mask, white shorts, and a crash helmet.
Tuburan said they currently have no person of interest in the case.
Alias Joy has since given a statement suggesting the attack may have been motivated by a personal grudge.
Tuburan declined to provide further details.
Investigators are reviewing closed-circuit television footage in the area to help identify the suspect.
