BACOLOD CITY – A heated argument between a man and his brother-in-law ended in a fatal stabbing at their home in Barangay Salong, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, on Saturday.
The victim was identified as “Lloyd,” 26, a laborer.
Police Lt. Col. Roberto Indiape Jr., chief of Kabankalan City Police Station, said the victim and the 33-year-old suspect, identified only as “Anton,” were talking at home when they suddenly got into an argument due to a misunderstanding.
The suspect reportedly got irked, took a kitchen knife, and allegedly stabbed the victim.
The victim sustained multiple stab wounds and was declared dead at a hospital.
Indiape said the suspect voluntarily surrendered to barangay officials and turned over the murder weapon.
The victim’s wife alleged that the suspect was using illegal drugs, though it has not been confirmed whether he was under the influence during the incident.
Indiape added that both the victim and the suspect were living under the same roof.
The victim’s family has decided to file murder charges against the suspect.
