Police identified the suspect only as “Jacky.”
Police Lt. Dwight Fajardo, deputy chief of the Calatrava Municipal Police Station, said the suspect brandished a bladed weapon and attacked one of the arresting officers, who managed to evade the strike.
Despite the officer stepping back, the suspect allegedly continued acting aggressively, prompting the officer to shoot him to neutralize the threat, Fajardo said.
The suspect was shot in the left leg and taken to a hospital for treatment.
The arrest warrant was issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 59 in San Carlos City on Oct. 16, 2025.
