Laborer seriously wounded in Maayon stabbing

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A laborer was seriously wounded after a driver allegedly stabbed him Tuesday evening, Aug. 11, inside a warehouse in Sitio Proper, Barangay Tuburan, Maayon, Capiz.

Police identified the victim only as “Jose,” 36, a single resident of Barangay Ameligan, Pontevedra, who was temporarily staying in Sitio Proper, Barangay Tuburan.

The suspect was identified only as “Renato,” a 59-year-old driver from Sitio Compound, Barangay Yatingan, Pontevedra.

The Maayon Municipal Police Station said the victim was inside his employer’s warehouse when a heated argument erupted between the two men.

As the victim was about to leave the warehouse, the suspect allegedly stabbed him in the right side of his abdomen.

The victim managed to take the knife from the suspect and seek help from his co-workers.

His co-workers took him to Bailan Hospital for treatment.

Police arrested the suspect and brought him to the Maayon Municipal Police Station for documentation and the filing of appropriate charges.

Investigators are working to determine the motive for the attack.
