A 30-year-old laborer was arrested following a police firearms raid at his home in Arevalo, Iloilo City on Sunday morning.
Alias Sandy was arrested when police raided his home in Barangay Sooc, Arevalo at 6:44 a.m.
Members of the Iloilo City Police Office-City Intelligence Unit, together with the ICPO SWAT Team and Iloilo City Police Station 6, served a search warrant for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Recovered during the operation was a .45-caliber pistol with one magazine loaded with four rounds.
Col. Wilbert Parilla, Iloilo City police chief, said they operated on the suspect following a report from a tipster.
He added that the operation is part of an intensified and aggressive campaign against loose firearms and all forms of criminality.
Parilla said the arrest of Sandy highlights the cooperation between the police and the community.
“With the continued support of the public, we will further strengthen our campaign to eliminate loose firearms and maintain peace and order in Iloilo City. Our message is clear: there is no place for lawlessness in our city,” he added.
Parilla also assured the public that they will sustain aggressive law enforcement operations, intelligence-driven activities, and community partnerships to ensure a safer and more secure Iloilo City.
