Another motorcycle rider was killed in a road crash evening of October 10, 2021 in Lambunao, Iloilo.
Raffy Abbang, 38, of Barangay Sibaguan, Lambunao, Iloilo suffered fatal injuries after his motorcycle slammed into a telecom utility post.
Police reports said that Abbang was on his way home when his motorcycle skidded to the other lane while passing through Tranghawan village, Lambunao around 8:10 p.m.
He then plowed into a post on the other side of the road.
Staff Sergeant Ramon Legayada, Lambunao police investigator, said there was no witness to the incident.
Residents were alerted about the mishap after they heard a loud thud.
Abbang was rushed to Dr. Ricardo Ladrido Memorial Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Legayada said the victim worked for an ambulant rice mill.
On the day of the incident, they did not work because of the rains.
Abbang was reportedly not wearing a crash helmet and reeked of liquor.
Legayada is not discounting the possibility that he dozed off while driving.
In the past weeks, the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) has recorded several “self-inflicted” deaths among motorcycle riders.
