Laborer Killed in Dao Hit-and-Run

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 30-year-old laborer died in a hit-and-run accident involving an SUV on Tuesday evening, January 21, along the national road in Sitio Busay, Barangay Manhoy, Dao, Capiz.
The victim was identified as Rene Santiago, 30, a resident of Sitio Ilaya, Barangay Quinayuya, Dao.
According to Police Staff Sgt. Boy Lozada of the Dao Municipal Police Station, Santiago was seen talking to another man beside the highway before suddenly crossing the road without noticing the speeding SUV.
The impact caused fatal injuries to Santiago, who was rushed to Sen. Gerry Roxas District Hospital by local responders. However, he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
The SUV, identified as a Toyota Avanza, fled toward Iloilo and is now the subject of a police manhunt.
