ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A laborer died after he drowned while swimming in a river Sunday afternoon, April 5, in Barangay Poblacion, Cuartero, Capiz.
Police identified the victim as Roger Halang, 38, single, and a resident of the area.
Information from the Cuartero police said the victim passed by a place where his relatives were having a drinking session.
The victim joined them and left about two hours later to swim in the Panay River.
A few hours later, a local resident saw the victim’s lifeless body floating in the river and immediately sought assistance.
The Cuartero Response Team responded and planned to bring the victim to Sen. Gerry Roxas Memorial District Hospital in Dao town.
