Laborer Caught With Illegal Gun, Grenade in Roxas City

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 36-year-old laborer was arrested for illegal possession of firearms and explosives in Barangay Lawaan, Roxas City, on Thursday, Feb. 6.
The suspect, identified only as alias “Dodoy” of Barangay Milibili, was nabbed in a buy-bust operation at around 10 p.m.
Police said the suspect handed over an unlicensed firearm and a hand grenade to an undercover operative in exchange for buy-bust money.
Recovered from him were a .38-caliber revolver with three live rounds, a hand grenade, and PHP3,600 in buy-bust money.
Authorities said the suspect was under week-long surveillance before the operation.
He is currently in the custody of the Roxas City Police Station and will be charged with violating the following:
- Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act)
- Comelec Gun Ban
- Republic Act 9516 (Illegal Possession of Explosives)
