BACOLOD City Mayor Rhumyla Nicor-Mangilimutan of La Castellana, Negros Occ. said on April 1, 2019 that the local government is promoting banana sticks as one of its major produce.
Mangilimutan made the announcement during the 22nd Banana Festival kick off. The festival runs until April 7, 2019.
The yearly festival showcase different kind of bananas produce from the 13 barangays of the said locality.
Mangilimutan said they decided to produce banana sticks to differentiate it from the usual banana delicacies such as pinasugbo and banana chips.
She said she has also asked the different barangays to regulate the selling of bananas outside of the municipality because they need the fruits for banana sticks production.
