BACOLOD CITY — Mayor Alme Rhummyla Nicor-Mangilimutan of La Castellana, Negros Occidental, led the groundbreaking ceremony for two significant projects in her town on Monday: a Super Health Center in an upland barangay and a municipal government-operated college.
The projects launched include the Super Health Center in the upland barangay of Cabacungan and the Colegio de la Castellana, located in the poblacion.
The mayor stated that the Super Health Center, made possible through the support of Senator Bong Go, aligns with her initiative to bring healthcare services closer to residents in remote barangays.
“This will make it easier for the residents to address their needs as they no longer need to travel far,” she said.
Cabacungan village chief Marvin Escander noted that the facility will benefit not only the residents of the barangay but also those from nearby areas.
He mentioned that the facility is expected to be completed in at least five months.
Meanwhile, the Colegio de la Castellana was envisioned by former Mayor Alberto Nicor, the current vice mayor, as a college operated by the town. According to Mayor Mangilimutan, who is a licensed teacher, her father’s dream was for every family in the town to have at least one professional.
“This is in addition to the town’s scholarship program,” she added.
During the program, the Sangguniang Bayan presented a resolution to former Mayor Nicor, recognizing his commendable contributions to the town’s educational initiatives. The municipal government also presented him with a citation for the same.
