KWF has new Director General

Atty. Barrios-Taran is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Prior to her appointment as Director General, Taran was the designated Board Secretary of the Board of Regents of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM). She also served as Vice President for Administration and Finance, University Legal Counsel, and Director II in the House of Representatives.
She will work in close association with the Executive Committee consisted of Commissioner Arthur P. Casanova, Commissioner Carmelita C. Abdurahman, and Commissioner Benjamin M. Mendillo Jr.
Pursuant to the mandate of the Constitution, the Philippine Congress enacted Republic Act No. 7104 in 1991, which provided for the creation of the Commission on the Filipino Language, also known as Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino. KWF is tasked to develop, preserve, and promote Filipino and other Philippine languages.
