Kobe Paras foregoes final UP playing year, returns to US

Kobe Paras made a tough decision to go back to the United States and leave the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons despite having one more eligible playing year in the UAAP.

Multiple sources confirmed that Paras already left the Philippines and will enter another basketball journey after joining the East West Private basketball training camp.

“Let tomorrow be your second chance to prove that you are better than today and yesterday. Welcome to the family Kobe,” posted EWP.

Paras earlier said that he will be staying with the Fighting Maroons in another championship campaign with co-stars Ricci Rivero and Bright Akhuetie after suffering defeat at the hands of the young and surging UST Growling Tigers squad.

UP’s chances of another UAAP championship bid was further boosted after acquiring a bunch of promising freshmen led by Carl Tamayo and Ilonggo Gerry Abadiano.

With Paras now out of the lineup, the Bo Perasol led squad will have to fill in the three and the four spots because they will be missing the 23-year-old’s versatility as a swingman.

This is not the first time that Paras will have a stint in the US. Previously, the young star offered his services to University of California and Creighton University where he played college basketball.
