Police withheld the name of the victim, a Kinder 2 pupil and resident of Barangay Tinampa-an.
Police Lt. Col. John Joel Batusbatusan, Cadiz Police chief, said a guest at the resort discovered the boy drowning in the pool.
The child was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Batusbatusan said the boy’s 22-year-old mother may not have noticed her son wandering off during a gathering at the resort.
Police reported that asphyxiation secondary to drowning was the cause of death.
The incident was officially reported to authorities on Thursday morning.
