With the doping incident involving Gilas Pilipinas cadet Kiefer Ravena still fresh, he was selected as one of the athletes to undergo random drug testing.
After a shocking 18-month ban issued by FIBA to Ravena, he was not only banned in international basketball but all basketball activities in the Philippines.
Ravena’s ban ended this August 24, 2019, just in time to help the PH squad go all-in in China.
Coach Yeng Guiao’s decision to pick a player who has not participated in any organized basketball activity was questioned by many critics, but the veteran coach trusted Ravena.
This World Cup is also the time for Ravena to silence his haters and prove his worth to the team.
“I guess you’re more careful about things right now and you know, during the first one I was already confident. But now, I guess, I’m more cautious in the procedure that is being done,” Ravena said.
