Filipino basketball superstar Kiefer Ravena became the first PH athlete to sign with the prestigious Jordan Brand.
Manufactured in tribute to one of the greatest basketball players in Michael Jordan, the Jordan Brand wanted to extend its popularity across Asia by signing Ravena.
“We’re inspired by Manila’s basketball culture and are thrilled to welcome our first Filipino athlete to the Jordan family,” said Jordan Brand president Craig Williams.
Ravena will be joining various international athletes in the brand including NBA superstars Zion Williamson, Luka Doncic, and Jayson Tatum.
The NLEX Road Warriors guard posted a lengthy message on his Instagram account regarding his latest achievement in his young basketball career.
“I still can’t believe that I’m part of the Jordan Brand Family. I’m very fortunate to have a great support system. My parents, my friends, my teammates, and the fans. In basketball, that’s all you need. Thank you @jumpman23,” posted Ravena.
Williams further added that Kiefer’s role as the newest member of the Jordan Brand wouldn’t revolve entirely on the playing court but he wishes the Filipino to be an inspiration for the future pinoy hoopers and to make an impact in the regional and national areas of the country where basketball is most loved.
“Basketball has a powerful influence on youth culture around the globe, and Kiefer can inspire future generations of ballers to make an impact in their hometowns and beyond. We are united by a shared love for the game, and Kiefer, a two-time UAAP MVP and Champion, represents the passion and love for basketball that you see all over the Philippines,” Williams shared.
