In Hinoba-an town, a celebration of New Year’s Day became tragic when a five-year-old girl drowned in a swimming pool in a resort at Purok 2, Barangay Alim.
Police Captain Jaime Dequillo Jr., deputy chief of Hinoba-an Municipal Police Station, said the victim, whose name was withheld, went swimming with her relatives during a family outing when they failed to notice her transferring to another pool.
