Still winless against rival Ceres-Negros FC in three outings in this year’s Philippines Football League, Kaya FC-Iloilo somehow found a way to improve and counter what Ceres did in their three games.
In Ceres’ last match against Stallion Laguna FC, the dominant number one team in the league found themselves in deep trouble as they ended their match in a draw, 1-1.
The Stallions’ defense gave Ceres a hard time in penetrating and executing their cross passes which enabled the Stallions to gain momentum and the necessary motivation to tighten up even more their defensive schemes.
Laguna’s style of play is very different from the way Kaya FC plays. Kaya tends to equalize the pace Ceres conducts their sets at, while their defense gets confused once a Ceres midfielder cruises past the middle of the pitch.
The Stallions, however, stuck to their defensive scheme and maintained their poise throughout the game.
If Kaya FC can somehow replicate the Stallions’ defensive schemes against Ceres, maybe the tables will be turned.
With the amount of talent that Kaya has, they have all the tools to score a game against Ceres and end this year’s PFL campaign on a positive note.
