Kagawad nabbed for possessing unlicensed gun

BACOLOD City – An incumbent barangay official in La Castellana, Negros Occidental was arrested for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition at Purok Kamunsil, Barangay Talaptap last Tuesday.
Police nabbed Kagawad Edgar Taclima, 50, of Barangay Talaptap, who also previously served as village chief, according to Captain Ramel Bustamante, La Castellana police chief.
Personnel of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Negros Occidental, along with various units of local policemen raided Taclima’s house via search warrant issued by Executive Judge Cyclamen Jison Fernandez of Regional Trial Court (RTC)-6 in La Carlota City.
Police recovered a .45 caliber pistol, a magazine, and eight live ammunition.
Taclima, according to the police, failed to present valid licenses for the gun and ammos.
Taclima was released from police custody the following day after he posted bail.
