ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A barangay kagawad (council member) of San Nicolas, Pilar, Capiz was arrested by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Capiz morning of June 27, 2023 of alleged possession of unlicensed firearms.
Police identified the suspect as Rolly Morenes, 44, of said Barangay.
Recovered from Morenes were two 12-gauge shotguns with magazines and ammunitions and a caliber .45 pistol with magazines and ammunitions.
Regional Trial Court Branch 19 (RTC) Executive Judge Ezperanza Isabel E. Poco-Deslate of Roxas City, Capiz issued the search warrant on June 26, 2023.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Law On Firearms And Ammunition) was filed against Morenes Thursday morning.
He is presently in the custody of CIDG-Capiz.
