Kagawad, companion killed in Sara road crash

An elderly barangay kagawad and his companion were killed in a vehicular incident late Thursday evening, April 30, in Sara, Iloilo.
Police identified the fatalities as Barangay Kagawad Nilo Aspera, 68, and Renato Patriarca, 64, both residents of Barangay Devera, Sara.
Also injured were Barangay Kagawad Manuel Agutaya, 63, of Barangay Zerrudo, Sara, and Barangay Kagawad Vicente Columbus Javellana III, 60, of Barangay Poblacion Market, Sara.
Aspera was driving a black Toyota Fortuner sport utility vehicle.
Reports said Aspera was navigating the national road in Barangay Aldeguer at around 11:10 p.m. Thursday when he lost control of the vehicle, crossed to the opposite lane, and hit a mango tree.
The victims were rushed to Sara District Hospital, but Aspera and Patriarca did not survive.
