BACOLOD City – Mayor Pedro Zayco of Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental has tested negative for the coronavirus disease-2019 or COVID -19.
Zayco submitted himself to a swab test after several members of the City Engineers Office contracted the virus last week.
Kabankalan City Public Information head Jake Carlyn Gonzales told Aksyon Radyo that the mayor had himself tested together with the employees of City Mayor’s Office and the Assessor’s Office.
Earlier, seven employees of the City Engineer’s Office contracted the virus, and one of them succumbed to COVID-19.
Gonzales said that while the city resumed operation last week after it was locked down, only a skeletal force was deployed to also protect the employees.
Meanwhile, the Isabela Municipal Hall was placed under lockdown after an employee at the Mayor’s Office tested positive of COVID-19.
