BACOLOD City – Mayor Pedro Zayco said Friday the Kabankalan City Hall in Negros Occidental was placed under lockdown starting Friday.
Zayco issued the order after seven employees of the City Engineers’ Office tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID -19.
The mayor also said he will subject himself to a swab test together with employees of the City Assessor’s Office and Mayor’s Office.
He also plans to subject all employees of the city hall to a swab test.
Zayco said that when the city hall reopens for operation Monday, wearing of face mask and face shield will be strictly imposed.
Earlier, the 48-year-old assistant city engineer succumbed to COVID-19.
Records of the Kabankalan Health Office showed that the said assistant city engineer went to Bacolod on Nov 4 and went home to Kabankalan City in the afternoon.
He reported to work on Nov 6 and had fever the following day. He stayed home until Nov 12.
On November 13 he was admitted to a private hospital in Bacolod City and underwent RT PCR test.
He was transferred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital on Nov 15 where he died.
On the same day, his test result came out showing he is positive of COVID-19.
