K-pop group Seventeen hailed as ‘Quadruple Million Sellers’ with success of recent album ‘Your Choice’

Seventeen, one of the most successful K-pop groups, sells over 1 million copies of recent mini-album ‘Your Choice’ only on its first week and owns the title ‘Quadruple Million Sellers’.

According to Hanteo Chart, the group’s 8^th mini-album ‘Your Choice’ sold a total of 1,344,127 copies on its first week of sales.

Back-to-back with the group’s previous releases namely An Ode (2019), Henggarae (2020), and Semicolon (2021), Seventeen yet again, broke their personal record in just four days with their recent release.

Breaking records after records, the group also joins BTS as the only groups to have two or more albums transcend 1 million sales on Hanteo in the 1^st week of tracking.

ABOUT THE ALBUM

In an interview with MTV, Seventeen member S.Coups reveals that ‘Your Choice’ mini-album is in fact a part of a bigger project.

“Our ‘Power of Love’ project addresses various moments and forms of love that we can encounter in our daily lives,” he states. He also adds, “So our concept trailer tried to convey some of these themes like first love, love vs. friendship, familial love, love for our pets, friendship, etc.”

He stresses that ‘Your Choice’ will portray a story of courageously confessing one’s feelings for a ‘you’ who made one come to realize the emotions of love.

On the subject of love in all its forms, Seventeen member Vernon also adds, “During this time, we all understand how we shouldn’t take the ones we love for granted, you know.”

Touching on subjects such as love and youth, the group gathered every members’ experiences and manifested these into the tracks of the album namely, Heaven’s Cloud, GAM3 BO1, Ready to Love, Wave, Anyone, and Same dream, same mind, same night.

As a self-producing group, the members get to incorporate their ideas and thoughts into the tracks with Seventeen member Woozi as the main producer.

In the same interview, Woozi shares how the brainstorming and the creative processes take place within a 13-membered group.

“I continuously try to focus on highlighting the aspects that don’t confine or limit us,” he shares. He also stresses that, “Seventeen has to deliver positive energy and messages to our Carats (fans) while showing new sides to ourselves through a diverse range of performances.”

Feeding from the versatility and the contributions of each member, he highlights that limiting themselves to a certain style means there’s less they can show so as a producer, he always tries to think outside the box by studying different musical genres and styles.

INTERNATIONAL ENDEAVORS

As a well-established group in Korea, achieving consecutive successes through their albums, Seventeen is projected to land a spot in any Billboard Chart.

In fact, as of June 28, US Billboard announced on their official Twitter account that Seventeen’s 8^th mini-album ‘Your Choice’ ranked #15 on their main album chart ‘Billboard 200’ for this week.

Adding to that achievement is the group’s debut on the Billboard Top Album Sales chart wherein they placed #1 with their newest release.

Seventeen is a self-producing 13-membered boy group from South Korea under Pledis Entertainment. The group debuted on May 26, 2015 and has a consistent fan base all over the world.
