Jumpstart a healthy lifestyle with the 1st Law & Justice Run

Unprecedented changes and challenges brought about by the pandemic caused many of us to rethink the way we do things, live, work, pray and even serve our community. To help improve overall well-being while standing firm on its commitment to serve the least, the lost and the last, IBP Cebu City Chapter is using the power of the internet and social media to spread its advocacy for Justice and Law through a virtual run.

Studies show that even the most basic forms of exercise, such as running or walking, are effective in managing stress, alleviating anxiety, and improving over-all health.

“With all the uncertainties the global health crisis has brought, we look for ways to promote health and wellness in every area – mind, body, and spirit. Thus, we came up with the idea to mount a virtual run”, says IBP Cebu City Chapter President Atty. Michelle Palmares.

The 1st Law and Justice run not only seeks to bring a global community, bound under a common goal for peace, justice, law and order, together but likewise aims to provide opportunities for an individual to pursue a healthier lifestyle. To say the least, the IBP Cebu City hopes that the 1st Law and Justice Run would help you jumpstart or rekindle your love for health and wellness.

The runner’s registration and support will go a long way. According to Atty. Regal Oliva, IBP Cebu City Chapter’s Immediate Past President, “Part of the proceeds will fund the free legal aid programs of the IBP Cebu City Chapter”. With the innovations sought to be introduced in the Bar Examinations, IBP Cebu City Chapter’s Big Brother program will provide support to the 2021 Bar Candidates. “After all, 2021 Bar Chairman Senior Associate Justice Marvic Leonen did promise it to be the #BestBarEver, and the IBP Cebu City is committed to make it the best one yet for the future members of the Philippine Bar”, Oliva adds.

In keeping with the 1521 theme commemorating the 500 years of Christianity, 36 barristers (15 from the IBP Eastern Visayas Region and 21 from the other regions) will be chosen amongst those who will submit an essay on why being in the legal profession is not just a job but a calling. These essays will be published to inspire and encourage not just those taking the bar but also the thousands of law students and those who hope in justice and equality for all.
