BACOLOD CITY – Mayor Alfredo “Albee” Benitez has appointed lawyer Joseph Chiu as the new head of the City Legal Office (CLO), effective Tuesday, Dec. 17.
Lawyer Caesar Distrito, Benitez’s spokesperson, said Monday that the mayor accepted the resignation of outgoing CLO head Romeo Carlos Ting Jr., who rendered his last day of work on Dec. 16.
Distrito said Ting decided to return to private practice after neglecting it for several years while serving as CLO head.
Ting was appointed to the position when Benitez assumed office as mayor of this city in June 2022.
Benitez expressed appreciation for Ting’s years of public service during his tenure as city legal officer, Distrito added.
Meanwhile, Chiu’s previous role as secretary to the mayor has been filled by lawyer Marty Go, who previously served as assistant secretary to the mayor.
