JORDAN, Guimaras — Student artists were recognized during the Pinta Kontra Droga culminating activity held May 6, 2026, at the Municipal Tourism Building in Jordan Wharf.
The activity was facilitated by the Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council, headed by Atty. John Edward G. Gando, in collaboration with SUBLI Artists Inc. – Guimaras, the Department of the Interior and Local Government, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
The culminating activity featured an artwork collaboration session that capped the Estorya Kuris Kuris – Art Caravan.
The art caravan was conducted from March to May 2026 with students from Jordan National High School, TVC – Sta. Teresa National High School, and Iloilo National High School.
Organizers said the initiative used art and education to strengthen awareness against illegal drugs among young people and local communities.
During the closing program, Flery Ann Gustilo received the PDEA’s Choice Award and MADAC’s Choice Award in the Komiks Illustration individual category for the April 16–17 session.
Catherine Marie Vilches and Ayeisha Nicole Gonzales received the Mayor’s Choice Award.
The program also included an art painting competition that showcased students’ creativity while reinforcing anti-drug messages.
In the Art Painting Collaboration category, TVC – Sta. Teresa National High School won first place.
The Mixed Group placed second while Jordan National High School finished third.
The Pinta Kontra Droga program reflects the continuing role of local anti-drug councils in prevention campaigns that go beyond enforcement by engaging schools, artists, and communities.
The initiative also aligns with broader community-based anti-drug advocacy efforts that use youth participation, public education, and creative expression to promote safer and drug-free communities.
